Missouri Habitats
A pleasant walk leads guests to
Missouri Habitats, a natural forested
example of Missouri
wilderness. This cooperative effort between
Dickerson Park Zoo and the Missouri Department
of Conservation is an exceptional representation
of the state's natural history, telling
the story of animals that are or were
once native to Missouri. For many “city-dwellers,” this
may be their only opportunity to see
these animals.
From the
boardwalk look over into exhibits for Black
Bears and Coyotes, and Red
Foxes. Other favorites in Missouri
Habitats include exhibits of Raccoons, Bobcats and North
American River Otters, with underwater
viewing windows.
In
August 2004, Dickerson Park Zoo opened
the final phase of Missouri Habitats,
adding exhibits for Mountain
Lions and Gray Wolves, and
a new yard for White-tail Deer. |
