Local animal shelters will be out to educate the public and adopt displaced animals (located in the fair grounds parking lot). Inside the zoo, learn about the zoo's ADOPT An Animal program, and participate in education activities, keeper chats and a shelter drive.

May 27 • Animal Enrichment Tuesday
Zookeepers give animals enriching items for guests to view. Repeated on June 24, July 29 and August 26.

June 6 • Dreamnight at the Zoo
By invitation only. Free evening event for children with chronic illness or disabilities and their families to experience the zoo. Gates open at 6 p.m.

June 12 • Kids' Zoobilee with Grand Sponsor Mayse Automotive Group

July 12 • 11th Annual Pancakes in the Park
Pancake breakfast sponsored and prepared by Village Inn, served at the zoo's Bush Country Café from 7-10 a.m. Cost is $4 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger, plus zoo admission. “Early Bird” discounted admission from 7-9 a.m. FOZ families receive a discount on breakfast.

July 19 • Art Gone Wild
Free simple hands-on art activities for children ages 12 and younger. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

August 23 • 14th Annual Ice Cream Safari
Purchase a safari passport for $3 and sample ice cream at stations throughout the zoo. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

October 21 • Members Only “Dress Rehearsal” for Halloween SPOOKTACULAR Preview event for current FOZ members. 6:30-9 p.m.

October 22-31 • 25th Annual Halloween SPOOKTACULAR
Evening Halloween themed event with lit decorations, scenes with familiar children's characters, candy treat stations staffed by costumed volunteers and hundreds of hand-carved jack-o-lanterns. Tickets are $4 at the gate. Discounted advance tickets available in mid-October. 6:30-9 p.m. each evening
